AI content repurposing: turn one idea into a week of posts
A simple playbook for turning a single idea into a week of social posts and an email — without spending your life writing. Use AI to do the reshaping, you keep the voice.
Showing up consistently online is one of the cheapest ways to grow a small business — and one of the first things that falls off when you’re busy. The problem usually isn’t ideas; it’s the time to turn an idea into a week’s worth of posts. That reshaping work is exactly what AI is good at.
This playbook takes one real idea and turns it into a week of content in about an hour. You bring the idea and the voice; AI does the reshaping.
What you'll need
- One real idea, tip, or story from your week
- An AI assistant like Claude
- Wherever you post (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, email)
- About an hour
Step 1 — Start with one real idea
Don’t start from “what should I post?” Start from something true that happened this week: a question a customer asked, a job you’re proud of, a mistake you fixed, a small tip you’d give a friend in your trade. One genuine idea beats ten generic ones.
Write it down in a sentence or two, in your own words. That’s your source material.
Step 2 — Pull out the angles
A single idea usually contains three or four smaller ones. Ask your AI assistant to find them:
Now you have a week of posts hiding inside one idea — each a slightly different take.
Step 3 — Draft each format with AI
Different channels want different shapes. Ask for each one explicitly, and feed it your angles:
- A short social post (a few sentences, one clear point)
- A slightly longer LinkedIn-style take
- A few lines for an email to your list
- A one-line caption with a question to invite replies
Generate them in a batch, then read with your own eyes. The AI gets you 80% there; the last 20% is you.
Step 4 — Match the tone to each channel
A LinkedIn post and an Instagram caption shouldn’t read identically. Tell the assistant where each one is going so it adjusts — more relaxed for Instagram, a touch more professional for LinkedIn, warm and personal for email. A good prompt is just: “rewrite this for [channel], keep it natural.”
Step 5 — Keep your voice and check the facts
This is the step that separates real content from obvious AI filler:
- Read every post aloud. If it doesn’t sound like you, change a few words until it does.
- Cut the hype. Delete anything that sounds like a brochure.
- Check any claim or number before it goes out. You’re responsible for what you post, not the tool.
Step 6 — Schedule it, then reuse the system
Drop the week’s posts into your scheduler (or a simple note) and space them out. Then save your prompts — next week, one new idea runs through the exact same system in a fraction of the time.
You're done when…
- One idea has become 4–5 posts plus an email
- Each is shaped for its channel
- Every post sounds like you, not a robot
- Claims are checked
- The week is scheduled and your prompts are saved
That’s the whole loop: one true idea, a handful of angles, AI for the reshaping, you for the voice. Do it weekly and showing up stops being a chore.
